I'll overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be streamed in real-time on the streaming platform.

Briton Joshua said he will "dominate completely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to promote next month's heavyweight fight.

Ex twice world boxing king Anthony Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive disparity - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Boxer's Mentality

"I will damage his features and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," Joshua, 35, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I'm going to really want to hurt him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Exchange

Despite such comments, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul instead attacked ex Joshua's opponent the Cameroonian fighter and labeled him "a joke" after Ngannou declined a fight offer.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Joshua, at the same time, criticized UK rival Fury - and rejected a large bet 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a Paul win.

"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he showed up," the boxer commented.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Opponent

Despite stating he plans to punish Paul, Joshua refused to speak negatively about his rival's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he remarked.

Jake Paul's Background

Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought mixed martial artists or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.

He was defeated by British fighter Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

Nevertheless, the novice remains one of the sport's greatest money-making draws, regularly earning substantial paydays.

Forecast and Belief

The 28-year-old predicted a KO victory in rounds four or five and stated he would prevent the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently under discussion for two years from now.

"It's going to be my match with Fury next year," Paul said.

Size Disparity

As the two fighters met for the usual confrontation, with their height and weight contrast on show, it highlighted just how improbable this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the fight is really going ahead.
